State of Illinois COVID-19 Executive order

As the Delta variant is sweeping through Illinois, affecting both vaccinated and unvaccinated people of all ages, Illinois Governor Pritzker issued a new mandate. The CDC estimates that the Delta variant makes up for more than 90% of all COVID-19 cases in the U.S to date. It is more aggressive and transmissible than other variants. Governor Pritzker and CDC recommendations have mandated for masks to be worn indoors beginning Monday, August 30th, 2021. All healthcare workers will be required to receive the first dose of the two-shot COVID-19 vaccine shot or the single-dose COVID-19 vaccine shot. Individuals who are not vaccinated must undergo weekly testing. All state employees, contractors, and vendors must also provide proof of having taken the COVID-19 vaccine. School and higher education personnel are also required to receive the first dose of the two-shot COVID-19 vaccine shot or the single-dose COVID-10 vaccine shot. IDPH and the Illinois Board of Education can add emergency rules that require additional frequent testing in case of higher transmission numbers or an outbreak. Finally, all employees under state-owned or operated must receive the first dose of the two-shot COVID-19 vaccine shot or the single-dose COVID-19 shot. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second or single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Please see attached executive order for more details.
